While this might not seem like a big deal to the casual Android user, fact is having access to the source code for a product you’re using can bring forth faster adoption across the board.

Engadget is reporting that Google has officially released the source code for Android 2.2. This means soon we’ll be seeing Android 2.2 released on more and more mobile devices, as the Open Handset Alliance is clearly satisfied with the Android code in its current form.
