If there is one thing folks using the Motorola Droid have been anxiously awaiting, it’s the automatic update to Android 2.2 Froyo. Unfortunately, this doesn’t appear to be happening just yet. Looks like there may be a few more issues for Moto to work through first. Despite this set back, there is one option that will meet the needs of any early adopters out there.

According to the AndroidGuys, you can actually do a manual upgrade to Android 2.2 should you wish to. The instructions on the previous link are fairly straight forward and the benefits certainly make it worth the change. And for those wondering, word on the street is that you don’t need to worry about backing up your apps first before making the upgrade. Speaking for myself, I make it a habit of backing up anything  I am updating, but that is just me.
