Continued...

Apple has been content to just let AppleScript sit in the background and attract users who are interested in it all by itself. Hey, maybe there's a script for that action? In any case, sample scripts have been included with the OS all along, so if you have an interest in scripting, then there is a place to set it free and watch it grow.

I've been developing software for a little over six years, and I'm ashamed to say that I still haven't given AppleScript the attention that it deserves. I always thought that the language was way too limiting, but that's not exactly true. The truth is that you can do some pretty nifty things with AppleScript, and the ability to create custom interfaces with the assistance of AppleScript Studio is a big plus. These custom made scripts can save you time and potentially make your life a little bit easier.

If you've always wanted to know what it would be like to develop software for your Mac, then you have a golden opportunity sitting on your machine right at this very second. An active community exists online, and they've felt the satisfaction (and frustration) that comes from getting your computer to do what you want it to do.
