With all of this going on, it's easy to wonder what efforts Apple is making and I wish I could tell you, but I don't see anything worth mentioning. Instead of accepting blogging for what it is, Apple would rather sue bloggers for talking about what they're doing. Microsoft is only one of the big companies that has embraced blogging, and we can see similar efforts by Google and Yahoo!, just to name a few.

Apple has the .Mac blog, but it's a joke. I don't want to read tips about using your products - I want to read the blogs of key executives, product managers, developers, marketing folks, and so on. Microsoft has further kicked dirt in Apple's face by recently launching an official blog for its Macintosh Business Unit, which already promises to be an interesting read. A video tour of different departments at Apple HQ, a la Channel 9, would also be very informative and enjoyable, but will Apple ever do it? Who knows.

In the end, Apple may have the better OS, but Microsoft has succeeded in keeping my interest because of their outstanding online communication efforts.
