Motorola RIZR Z8
(Column) - Pretty much all phone designs are similar to one another, and there isn’t anything particularly exciting about them. We accept them for who they, how they work and life is generally pretty good. However, Motorola is breaking the tradition of straight, bar-like designs with its RIZR Z8. The phone, as you can see, is slightly curved in the middle to move the microphone closer to the mouth, while still having a relatively well designed, sleek and functional layout.
Obviously this allows the caller to speak more softly (I would presume) and have the recipient still hear well.
Motorola RIZR Z8
In general, though, I think it’s evident that Motorola’s RIZR Z8 is out to break the rules for standard slider phones. The design, color scheme and everything else in between is great looking. Of course, nothing can be said until the unit is actually released, but we can surely hope for the best.
Motorola revolutionized the way we think about slim cell phones with its Moto RAZR series, and I think the company is going to redefine the way we think about slider phones, again. There is a message in all this for the companies that are listening. Don’t be afraid to alienate (think Apple, Motorola) and innovate. We, as users, like products that are functional and trendy.
