OS X on a Dell: Will it Ever Happen? Taking a side trip for a moment, I think you will find this amusing. I don't recall specifically which event it was, but there was an instance when Michael Dell openly made it clear that he would be interested in the feasibility of OS X on their PCs. In true Steve Jobs form, Apple's founder simply smiled and said nothing.

Now, we must ask ourselves one very important question here: The first is whether or not we want to see OS X on a Dell PC? If I had the choice between the style of a Dell and a Mac for the same price, I sure as heck would never be interested in buying an ugly old Dell for a comparative cost of Mac hardware? it just seems counterproductive.

Going Mac or Letting it Slack. And so we come back full circle. I’m still debating on the move and for a good reason: OS X is pretty, powerful and has fantastic applications. But the only thing that holds an interest for me on the entire platform is the video editing option. I’m a Linux user and my existing Ubuntu install is skinned exactly how I want it. Outside of video editing (Kino does not cut it), my Ubuntu installation does everything I could possibly want. Why change this?

No, my goal of getting a Mac would have to be so I can have access to professional editing applications and to be able to do so without ever having to "defrag" another Windows partition again after my video editing work. Vista's "auto-defrag" is a yawn-fest, so there is no love there, I’m afraid.

In the end, I will likely end up buying an iMac. It's versatile, powerful and has enough juice to meet with all of my video editing needs. Before I do, however, I want to hear from you first.
