Page 2 of 2 Courtesy of OSWeekly.com Drivers are Half-Done, Is There Really a Problem Here? It depends. Do you like the idea of buying an expensive video card to take advantage of the latest Vista technology only to discover that the drivers offered will not allow you to game at peak performance? The same problem could be said for web cams, soundcards, and other needed devices. And to be frank, it is beginning to look like a repeat of the same issue that we had to deal with Windows XP. Alright, there is obviously very little that we can do about this. So, is this really such a big deal? Perhaps we can make this work by simply being patient and not expecting so much so quickly. After all, this is a brand new operating system, and it certainly takes time for hardware companies to catch up, right? Give me a break. Assessing the Future. With devices beginning to popup with the slogan "Best Experienced under Windows Vista," it has to leave people feeling a little wary, since there are growing concerns as to just how well these "Vista ready" devices really are. Speaking for myself, I’m of the mind that it may be a best practice to stick with XP initially until the driver support can catch up. I would like all of you to understand that I do believe Vista is going to be able to offer some pretty major improvements over XP in the long run. Having said this, XP has been out long enough for driver support to be the level that each us have come to expect. So, in short, let's give Vista the same chance and hope that hardware manufacturers can get it in gear within a reasonable amount of time.
