(Column) - Unlike some people, I'm not a Mac or a PC guy - I'm a Mac and a PC guy. There's room for both options in this world, and there doesn't have to be a bitter rivalry between both sets of users. In fact, I think you're only firing on all creative and productive cylinders if you use both (or all three, if you include Linux).

I started out using a PC exclusively, and I continued to do so for around eleven years. I wasn't really a PC user by choice, because at the time, I was too young to know anything about computers except for what my parents told me and what they let me use in the house. I just knew that I could play games on that beige box, and that's all that mattered to me. Remember Day of the Tentacle? I sure do.

As time went on, I grew out of gaming, and became more interested in the technical development side of things. All of a sudden, the way software worked fascinated me, and I just had to figure out how all of the amazing stuff that I saw took place behind-the-scenes. This led to an interest in programming, and that head start I had is what I have to thank for my career in technology today. Who knows what I would be doing if I wouldn't have first taken up coding as a hobby all those years ago. Life would surely be quite different...
