AT&T Tilt

(First Look) - After securing Apple's iPhone contract, AT&T continues to make headway in the ever growing smartphones market with Tilt, an HTC made handset exclusively for the blue wireless carrier. Running Windows Mobile 6 Professional, the first device to run the latest OS in AT&T's product line, it's a mixed bag of treats that can do everything with reservations. In fact, you could make a healthy list of features, followed by an equally healthy list of drawbacks, albeit minor ones.

It's a bulky unit with a less than sleek design (compared to RIM's BlackBerry and Apple's iPhone), and sliding it in your pocket would be a feat. Too visible. There are standard navigational buttons on the front. The display pops open to display a QWERTY keyboard and a display that automatically switches from landscape to portrait. Talking about the display, it's bright and crisp with 64k color support, 2.8-inch display and 240x320 resolution.

In terms of features, expect all the standard Windows Mobile 6 options, onboard GPS integration, POP3 and IMAP e-mail, Microsoft Office Mobile, built-in digital camera with 10x digital zoom with resolution ranging from 160x120 to 2048x1536, EDGE support and a rechargeable battery.

AT&T's Tilt appears to be a solid offering that we will delve into in a full review. We are expected to receive our sample soon, so check back to get our full analysis on the device later this week. Tilt is rated to talk for 4 hours and 192 hours of standby time.
