(First Look) - Apple has recently revealed a revamped line of its iPod family, which includes an updated iPod Shuffle, Nano and the traditional video iPod with a larger screen. There’s no generational update to the "main" iPod yet. We have briefly taken a look at the iPod Shuffle, and today it’s time to get a quick glimpse at Apple’s 2nd generation Nano.

The iPod Nano comes in five trendy colors, 8GB of storage, a brighter display and up to 24 hours of battery life. As Apple prefers to say, the concept has been "completely remastered." We agree. The new Nano puts Apple in competition against SanDisk’s 8GB e280 music player. In addition, Creative is rumoring to release an 8GB contender as well. Apple shouldn’t be too worried, however.

The display on the Nano measures 1.5-inch with 176x132 resolution. Support for various music formats including AAC, Protected AAC, MP3 VBR, Apple Lossless, WAV and others are there as well, which isn’t much of a surprise.

As far as technical specifications are concerned, not much has changed behind the scenes, so to speak. The key updates that Apple has made is the release of new color schemes, better storage options, more portability and increased battery life. That sums up the new Nano perfectly.

What’s even better is that all new Apple music players will come with an updated earphones design that looks fairly attractive.

The 8GB storage option isn’t the only option available; you can choose from 2GB and 4GB models as well. The interesting thing to note here is that you can differentiate between various storage sizes based on colors. For instance, the 8GB flavor is only in black, while 2GB is exclusively available in silver. Similarly, 4GB is available in silver, green, blue and magenta. Talk about color-coding storage sizes…

All models are available immediately for $149, $199 and $249, respectively.
