Apple’s recent addition to its extended iPod product line includes Nano, a replacement and a sleeker version of the iPod Mini. The basic concept of the Nano is that it has all the features of the iPod Mini, plus a few more, in a compact size. According to Apple, it holds up to 500 to 1,000 songs on average depending on the version you purchase, a 2GB or 4GB model. It weighs in around 1.5 ounces and packs a 1.5" color screen, which appears to be the norm with all Apple iPod music players. The Apple iPod Nano has the standard Click Wheel with an easy to navigate menu and 14 hours of battery life; the battery is rechargeable via USB port. Not to mention the other features you get such as synchronization with calendar, contacts and to-do lists, and Apple suddenly (and as always) has a market-dominating player. With that said, the main thing that Apple’s promoting is the Nano’s size. According to Apple, the Nano is as thin as a No. 2 pencil. The pricing for the Apple Nano starts at $199.00.
Initial Thoughts: Whenever Apple comes up with a new iPod, it always has something unique going for it, and with Nano, it’s the size. The Nano is definitely better than the iPod Mini with all the standard features and then some. The colored screen, which Apple is incorporating in all of its iPod music players, is definitely a nice addition. Plus, the price is quite reasonable and it should allow even the most budget conscious buyers to get a taste of the iPod – a music phenomenon.
