Initial Thoughts: The AV 700 is a dream come true for multimedia enthusiasts that are constantly traveling and would like to have their entertainment content right at their fingertips. If you’ve ever felt limited by the standard DVD player or the one built into your notebook computer, the AV 700 is certainly the answer. Not only can you watch broadcasts, but also movies, listen to music, play videogames and view family photos. The AV 700 is an attractive gadget that offers substantial entertainment content on the go. Undoubtedly, the industry is definitely headed in the right direction, but unfortunately the price is far too steep to make this a must have product, no matter how superior, for everyone. From the initial specifications, there doesn’t appear to be many drawbacks, but then again, it’s not a surprise either. Manufacturers have gotten so well at implementing attractive features that finding a flaw from the surface isn’t possible anymore. However, the real drawbacks lie in overall performance. With so many features onboard, it’ll be interesting to see how Archos manages to deliver acceptable performance on all fronts. Until we take an in-depth look at the AV 700 and its performance, the price should be precipitous enough to keep you at a distance.
