(First Look) - Logitech continues its tradition of laser gaming mice, and this time it’s the G5 model. The G5 is part of Logitech’s laser line of mice and is similar to the superior G7 edition. Considering that G5 is a predecessor to the G7, it makes sense for the G7 to have more features and functionality over the G5, though the performance should be the same. Logitech’s G5 mouse features a 2000dpi laser engine, which translates to 6.4 megapixels of images per second; it also has in-game sensitivity switching, meaning you can switch between 400dpi, 800dpi and 2000dpi instantly while playing the game, thereby ensuring the maximum accuracy and performance depending upon your gaming style. What’s even more interesting is that you can add and remove weights accordingly, which, according to Logitech, would improve your gaming performance, as you’ll get to pick the best configuration of resolution and weights that’s specific to your necessities. The G5 laser mouse also has Polytetrafluoroethylene, or PTFE, gaming feet for ultra-smooth glide. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of the unit is $69.99. Initial Thoughts: Needless to say, the G5 is truly designed for gamers that prefer to tweak everything in their system to maximize the winnings in games. All the selections from higher image resolution to instant switching are excellent options to have for serious gamers. Considering that the G5 is one of Logitech’s gaming mice, the price is fairly decent. All that remains to be seen now is how well it performs with the features it supports.
