Just like MP3 players are the latest buzz in the consumer electronics industry, cordless keyboard and mice are the latest talk in the peripherals market. Logitech, a company known for its innovation and a solid product line, at least most of the time, has come through with yet another mouse that may interest you. Logitech’s MediaPlay Cordless mouse may appear like a regular mouse, but it’s definitely not anything you’ve ever seen before. In addition to the standard buttons and features, you also get a plethora of media buttons, such as play/pause, forward/back and volume up/down to control your computer’s media software almost instantly.

According to Logitech, you can hold up the mouse and use it just like a remote control that gets about six months of battery life. Not only that, but due to Logitech’s enhanced wireless connectivity, you can use the mouse with little to no interference from other devices or with unnecessary frequency interference.

The standard mouse features smooth optical tracking, clutter-free cordless design, extra navigation buttons and a scroll/tilt wheel.

The ergonomics of the Logitech MediaPlay mouse appears to be quite nice with a feel of a traditional mouse and a remote control all combined in a single package. Not only that, but you also get fancy LED lights and extended operational range. The MediaPlay aspect of the mouse controls Logitech’s MediaLife software as well as third-party media applications.

The mouse is currently available for retail with a MSRP price tag of $49.95.
