The problem with majority of the notebook computer mice is that they are too minute to actually be of good use while on the road. Apparently, when companies think of notebook mice, they are inclined to the portability factor, which is fine and everything but what they forget in the process are the size and ergonomics. Microsoft’s Notebook Optical mouse uses the company’s Optical technology to conveniently improve response time and smoothen the performance.

The mouse includes a clear scroll wheel to add flavor to the device, and as we feared above, it’s sized for portability. According to Microsoft, this particular mouse is compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. The Microsoft Notebook Optical mouse is currently retailing around $29.99.

Initial Thoughts: There’s nothing too exciting going on with Microsoft’s Notebook Optical mouse, but notebook mice are never too exciting to begin with. The Optical technology is all well and good, but the portability factor is going to be a major problem due to its size. Anyone with decent sized hands shouldn’t even bother with notebook mice to begin with; they are not worth the hassle. Even though we are not too keen on the pricing of notebook mice, Microsoft has priced it fairly competitive, so if notebook is what you are looking for, Microsoft may just please you.
