Are gadgets starting to bore you with the same old color scheme and functionality? Well, look no further than Mimoco’s Mimibot flash drives. In order to distinguish itself from the number of flash drive manufacturers, Mimoco has introduced a family of Mimibots that take a step forward in product design and overall aesthetics. Mimoco’s product line consists of four Mimibots, or flash drives: Protobot0, Protobot1, Isadore and Fairybit. Apparently Mimibots "have traveled a long time across multiple parallel systems to reach earth". They have come from a distant planet known as blooh, which is located in galaxy 4210 where Mimibots have been living harmoniously since the time of no age, according to company information. Functionality wise, Mimibots are USB 2.0 compatible and require no drivers (except with Windows 98SE) to operate. With that said, each flash drive has an activity LED light that lights up when the drive is in use. These particular drives come in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB versions to support specific storage needs. According to the company, Mimibots are expected to debut on September 9th, 2005 with preloaded music mix from DJ DB. Pricing information was not available at the time of publication. Initial Thoughts: The only thing going for Mimibots is their aesthetics and overall appeal to a select few that want a somewhat unique device. Mimoco has done quite a nice job by defining each Mimibot, its role in the family and the family’s history; it’s pleasant to know there’s a whole new species of technology products roaming around the galaxy. In order for Mimibots to be a desirable choice, we hope Mimoco prices them reasonably or else the company will have a difficult time retailing Mimibots to a few gadget admirers.
