The iPod craze has gone out of control not only with digital accessories to support Apple’s world class MP3 player, but also on the PC side of things. For the past weeks, we have taken a look at products that are exclusive to the iPod, and the rest are mimicked and marketed for the iPod to increase sales. Thus far, we have seen companies introduce not only specialized cases for the portable audio player, but also headphones and speaker sets. Not to mention the numerous other accessories that are designed to further increase the functionality of an immensely popular player. Let’s just say that iPod is a gadget pet that can drive the cost to thousands of dollars with the latest toys that are proposed specially for it. While the digital world is supposedly taking advantage of the iPod trend, PC makers weren’t going to stay behind. They would catch up sooner or later, and it looks like the world’s very first iPod PC case has arrived…

Japanese PC case maker Scythe recently introduced the iPod look alike in the form of a fully-fledged ATX case. Although the company did not reveal many details, the computer case, as you can tell, has a white exterior to match that of an iPod. It has place for 4 x 5.25" and 2 x 3.5" drives. Scythe may also include a 500W in the case with an additional PCI Express connector, but information on that is currently unavailable. Scythe would certainly charge extra for the 500W power supply should it decide to make it available.

The interesting looking aspect of the case is the center with "play/pause" and other such buttons. The left and right buttons are actually LED lights for hard drive activity while the power button is a self-explanatory function. The bottommost panel in the center actually opens to reveal USB 2.0, Firewire, Audio In/Out and other such ports that are common in standard computer cases. The side panel is removable with space for an unknown sized fan for heat dissipation.

According to Skype, the case would be available for purchase starting July 14th with a suggested retail price of $105.00.
