The supply of high-end earphones is unlimited, it seems. Yet another contender in the competitive, but exclusive market is Ultimate Ears and its Super.Fi 5EB pair of earphones. They offer an in-ear design with a stylish exterior to give it an edge. With a design similar to Etymotic’s ER-4 MicroPro, they should have no problem blocking out excess noise, which is a pleasant "feature" to look forward to. The Super.Fi 5EB features a high frequency driver for precision balanced clear and crisp sound, a low frequency driver for deep and rich bass, and audio filters for specific audio detail. Not to mention the passive crossover technology for highs and lows for precise audio reproduction. According to Ultimate Ears, the Super.Fi 5EB has professional construction, fashion conscious styling, noise isolating design, dual driver technology, flexible ear loops and an abundance of accessories to accompany the earphones. The MSRP for the Super.Fi 5EB is $199.99. Initial Thoughts: Once you reach a certain stage with high-end headphones and earphones, there are only so many improvements companies can do to truly justify the price tag. Even though $199.99 is somewhat of a steep price tag, it’s actually better than what Ultimate Ears is offering its Super.Fi 5 Pro for ($249.99). The Super.Fi 5EB pair looks promising in terms of overall audio quality as well as price. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised to see users pick this pair over the $50.00 more expensive version, the Super.Fi 5 Pro.
