(First Look) - We’ve all seen wireless Bluetooth headsets for cell phones, but have you ever seen a pair of eyeglasses and a headset? That’s the idea behind Motorola’s RAZRWIRE eyewear and headset hybrid. Every other product category is moving into the hybridization of two dissimilar concepts, so why not headsets? After all, we all want to look technically stylish…

The idea behind the RAZRWIRE is simple: integrate a pair of wireless Bluetooth enabled headset on a pair of eyeglasses, and suddenly, you have an attractive pair of both, at least subjectively. According to Motorola, it’s a multi-function device with a call button to answer, end, hold and toggle between calls with up to 30ft wire-free communication.

The eyeglasses use Oakley’s patented XYZ Optics with material that 100 percent blocks UVA, UVB, UVC, and harmful blue light. Due to the flexible design, the speaker is adjustable to three positions, and the module itself is detachable for left or right preference.

The RAZRWIRE is rated for six hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby time, respectively.

The RAZRWIRE is currently available from Cingular and Oakley stores for $294.99.

Initial Thoughts: This is more of a fashionable accessory that’s highlighted in a useful product. Regardless the outcome, the final recommendation is up to you considering the subjectivity of the product. There’s no middle road for the RAZRWIRE; you either like it or dislike it. Hopefully, Motorola’s RAZRWIRE will deliver on its name and offer exceptional audio quality, especially when it costs nearly $300.00. Unfortunately, the price tag is far too steep for the RAZRWIRE to be a valuable gadget, but if you can afford it and the performance is up to the standard, it’s a unique device that will surely get you attention.
