Motorola RAZR V9

(First Look) - As if we aren’t optimistic enough about Motorola’s latest product lineup, the V9 makes us even more optimistic about the success of the company’s RAZR2 series. Earlier today, we did a First Look on V8 highlighting our initial thoughts on the entry level option of the RAZR2 line, but the V9 is even better than we had originally anticipated.

A lot of the features are similar to the V8, so we’ll direct you to our Motorola RAZR V8 First Look, but we did manage to notice a few key differences that we would like to highlight below:

The presentation of the V9 is comparatively different from the V8, naturally. It has a different color scheme that looks interesting. It’s definitely unique, and it may end up being the latest color to have. Unlike the V8, the RAZR V9 has a MicroSD expansion slot, which is a definite requirement considering that the phone is only integrated with 45MB of onboard space. That’s pretty depressing. We would’ve preferred to have 512MB, 1GB or maybe even 2GB onboard, in addition to the expansion slot. That would’ve certainly sweetened the deal.

The 2.0-megapixel camera has 8x digital zoom with no multi image capture, a slight twist from the V8. Video playback capability is ramped up as well with 25fps for H263 video format and 15fps for Real format. MPEG video format is also supported.

Motorola’s V9 has the option for video telephony for video conferencing and over the air sync features for your phone book, e-mail and calendar. The only thing is that a lot of businesspeople won’t be using the V9 as a smartphone, so these will go unused a lot of times.

Again, the RAZR V9 is a solid upgrade from the V8. It absolutely includes a number of options that we would be interested to see in an advanced phone, such as the V9, and assuming the price difference isn’t too steep between the two models (V8 and V9), this may end up being a better option than the company’s V8 version.
