(First Look) - Good-bye Motorola, welcome Samsung! That appears to be the bold statement Samsung is making with its newly released, Motorola RAZR competitor, A900. Samsung’s A900, also codenamed Blade, is a direct hit at Motorola’s year old RAZR, still a hot seller and the world’s thinnest phone in the market.

The Samsung A900 features Bluetooth wireless connectivity, high speed connection via Sprint for Internet browsing and e-mail, an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera, a stereo speakerphone and an advanced voice recognition system. According to Samsung, the A900 packs in approximately three hours of battery life, has a 240x320 main display with 262K colors, and an external display (96x96) with support for 65K colors.

The price of the A900 was unavailable at the time of publication.

Initial Thoughts: Samsung’s A900 appears to be a rather sleek phone that might very well compete against the Motorola RAZR and prove to be just the device to overtake the world’s thinnest phone. However, the RAZR has built quite an image since its launch, therefore, Samsung will have a tough time trying to clear that perception in the market. So, not only does it need a reasonable price tag, but a superior device that really does deliver better than the RAZR. Even after that, unfortunately, there’s no guarantee that Samsung will succeed in dethroning the RAZR.
