(First Look) - Sony released the UX180P Micro PC not too long ago to the masses. From almost all angles, the device appears to be a winner with a host of latest technologies and developments, which will only enhance user experience, at least initially.

The device is packed with Intel Core Solo U1400 (1.20GHz, 2MB L2 cache) microprocessor, Microsoft Windows XP SP2 OS, Intel 945GMS chipset with integrated graphics, integrated wireless WAN, LAN and Bluetooth technologies for instant communication between devices and otherwise, 4.5" Wide SVGA LCD touchscreen (1,024x600 resolution), 30GB 4,200RPM HDD, 512MB of DDR2 3200 memory, 64-keys keyboard, 1x stylus, Biometric fingerprint sensor and a host of other options, such as USB 2.0 ports and media slots.

Sony’s UX180P is more or less an all time mobile device for entertainment as well as work related purposes. It acts as a portable DVD player, a notebook for e-mail, other light communication and document related work, and an otherwise all rounder device with updated technologies and fairly decent specifications for its size.

The estimated battery life is anywhere from 2.5 to 4.5 hours, which isn’t too bad actually. In fact, Sony’s UX180P has better battery life than some of Sony’s business class notebooks. Not only will this beat an average business class notebook in battery life, but it’s also small enough to be more portable than a standard notebook. What more could you ask for?

To top it all, it only weighs approximately 1.2lbs and has two integrated cameras – one for photos, another for video conferencing.

Sony has combined a number of excellent features mainly for business travelers, but also for those who prefer to stay connected when they travel. However, the UX180P and the luxury of purchasing the ultimate portable PC come at a steep price of $1,799.99.
