Lenovo Group has today introduced a ThinkPad Tablet PC that is designed to operate as a regular notebook computer with integrated keyboard as well as a standard Tablet PC with a digital pen. Lenovo said it was hoping to introduce its ThinkPad X41 Tablet on the first day of Microsoft’s Tech Ed conference, but due to an accidental publishing of qualification papers on the U.S. Federal Communications Commission’s website leaked the information before the company had intended. The company said it has seen a peek interest in the market with Tablet PCs, specifically with Medical Professionals and Corporate Managers, which led Lenovo to design its very own Tablet PC. The X41 is equipped with a 12.1" screen, Intel’s mobile Centrino technology with built-in support for Wi-Fi, Intel Pentium M 758 mobile microprocessor, 256MB of DDR2 memory, 20GB hard disk drive, and an integrated fingerprint reader. The tablet PC requires a docking station for CD and DVD drives. The X41 Tablet PC is based on a special design that let’s users switch between a regular notebook computer and a tablet PC seamlessly. Lenovo is expected to officially launch the unit sometime this week with an approximate price of $1899. The X41 will be available for purchase worldwide starting June 14th.
