Motorola has introduced a new smartphone, which is targeted and marketed at the business class users that need to stay in touch while on the move. The new MOTO Q model was debuted at the MOTONOW tradeshow and is expected to rigorously compete against standard PDAs and RIM’s Blackberry. The MOTO Q features a QWERTY keyboard with a matching RAZR design, which was first unveiled with an earlier Motorola mobile phone model. It’s one of the first few smartphones that are equipped with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, codenamed Magneto and is optimized for Microsoft Exchange 2003 in addition to other e-mail clients. According to Motorola, the MOTO Q is 50 percent slimmer than other competing products in the same market segment. Moreover, it’s based on a compact "antenna-inside" design, has electro-luminescent buttons, supports a large display, has an integrated 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity option and other audio/video capabilities. You would also get a conference speaker and hands free accessories for a more professional usage environment. Motorola did not reveal the price or availability at the show, but did say that information regarding that would be available in 2006.
