RealNetworks, Inc. today announced its decision to offer the ability to listen to 25 songs to non-subscribers, and nearly one million songs for download to subscribers.
RealNetworks unveiled new software that will operate similar to Apple’s iTunes music application; it will automatically arrange songs for paying customers and put download music files onto selected portable audio players.
The company hopes to target the digital music market much similar to Apple’s strategies. With Apple and Rhapsody basically providing the same service, except via different software, RealNetworks hopes its Rhapsody service to gain popularity.
Interestingly enough, RealNetworks will also support Apple’s iPod person audio players in order to further compete against Apple.
Today, the company announced an abundance of features with one aim: to beat Apple at its own game.
