Sony has announced two latest generations of audio players that support the popular MP3 audio format.

Prior to the launch of these two players, Sony relied on its proprietary audio format based players for sales revenue. This time, however, Sony is hoping to compete rigorously against Apple’s iPod music player that holds around 50 percent market shares of the portable audio player market.

Sony’s NW-E99 and NW-E95 are flash based devices that may put limit on storage options.

NW-E99 will have 1GB of storage while NW-E95 will carry 512MB of storage for MP3 music files. The players are expected to retail around $300 and $200, respectively.

Both of these players will debut on November 1, 2004.
