Microsoft Corp. has filed a lawsuit against Google, its rival search engine company, and a former executive Kai-Fu Lee for violating his confidentiality and non-compete agreement by deciding to work with Google and lead its upcoming Research Center in China.

Microsoft claimed its former vice president responsible for developing speech reorganization and other interactive technologies violated his contract by choosing to lead Google’s upcoming Chinese research facility, as he had knowledge of Microsoft’s search technology, search strategies and business plans.

Lee used to work for Apple Computer before he joined Microsoft in 1998.

Microsoft would like the King County Superior Court to enforce the agreement between Lee and the world’s largest software maker.

Google stated that it has reviewed Microsoft’s claims and considers them to be baseless. "We will defend vigorously against these meritless claims and will fully support Dr. Lee," said David Krane, Spokesman, Google in a statement.

Google further added that it has plans to open a research facility in China to tap into the engineering power to develop advanced technologies.
