Brocade today announced that EMC will start shipping its Invista network virtualization technology on the Brocade silkworm application platform soon. According to the company, this will provide data centers with a new tool to further optimize their storage infrastructures.

Invista, according to the company, will let enterprise customers take advantage of the organizational setup that the product provides. Invista will help manage and simplify the transferring of data back and forth across various storage mediums.

EMC said Invista will help enterprises by improving overall storage and data management with its product. "Brocade and EMC have partnered for many years to provide long-term value to enterprise data centers," said Todd Oseth, Vice President, Storage Infrastructure Software, EMC. He added, "Brocade plays a key role in EMC Invista's ability to scale with the levels of performance, reliability and integrity required for enterprise deployment," he said. "Invista achieves this without introducing additional devices into the data path or forcing customers into the complexity of managing additional devices in their SAN."

Invista customers will also be able to use XPath technology, which is compatible with Brocade SAN ports. The Connectrix AP-7420B router will be available for purchase right when Invista launches.

EMC also said SAS storage option will also be compatible with Invista.
