Dell made an announcement on Monday stating that it is ready to launch two machines based on the Dual-Core microprocessor architecture from Intel Corp. The two machines, Dell Precision 380 workstation and Dell Dimension XPS, will support Intel’s latest Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 840 with Intel’s recently introduced 955X chipset to support its new chips. The Dell Precision 380 is designed for corporate/high-end workstation use while the Dell Dimension XPS is a gaming machine for gamers. Due to their dual-core support, both machines will be able to handle intensive tasks that include heavy multitasking activities. The Precision 380 will retail around $2,259 with support for 8GB of onboard memory, four SATA drives and a rack-mount chassis. The gaming model, Dimension XPS, will retail for $2,999+ and feature six expansion slots, latest chipset features and either Windows XP Professional or Media Center Edition 2005.
