America Online has updated the XML flaw in its Netscape 8.0 browser on Friday, which caused issues with Internet Explorer.

Once users installed Netscape 8.0, they noted that certain XML webpages, namely RSS feeds, were displayed blank in rival browser – Internet Explorer. At the time, Dave Massey, Program Manager, IE Development Team, posted a message in his weblog telling people to uninstall the recent version of Netscape 8.0 to get IE to work on all webpages.

AOL spokesman Andrew Weinstein said that such a move was silly, and the company would fix the flaw in a timely manner.

The company patched the browser and said version 8.0.2 is available for download.

In addition to the main flaw, AOL said it has also improved the performance and fixed other minor bugs as well.
