Altec Lansing has been around since before the dawn of stereo. Altec Lansing was formed in 1941 when Altec purchased the Lansing Manufacturing Company. In 1946 the former Lansing owner, James B. Lansing, later formed JBL, a name most of us will recognize. Altec has always been known for its speaker systems in the affordable category and today we will take a look at their recently announced MX5020 speaker set. The MX5020 is a 2.0 stereo speaker system. Its simplicity is proudly touted on the Altec site and we would say that simple is an accurate description. There are no satellite speakers, sub-woofers or cables to run all over your desk. So what exactly can one expect from a system that is missing a thumping subwoofer? Read on and find out… Accessories: The only accessories we found were an user's guide explaining the installation procedure and a polishing cloth for the speaker’s black finish. It was expected and hopefully it will help keep the price down.
