If you have ever tried to seriously enjoy music on your notebook computer, you know they don’t sound nearly as impressive as you would like. After all, they are only a mere pair of speaker set that is barely enough to deal with default sounds and are not for the audiophiles. So, what are speaker manufacturers doing to eliminate this "problem"? Well, Altec Lansing seems to have an answer for all of us today. The company recently announced their portable laptop speakers to the world that promise portability as well as high-quality sound, but do they really deliver? That’s our question for today.

Majority of us are aware of Altec Lansing as more of an affordable leader in the audio industry. They have produced quite impressive speaker systems in the past and continue to do so as the market demands. And while users still opt for manufacturers like Creative and Logitech, Altec Lansing is definitely a strong competitor. After having a meeting with Altec Lansing at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, we were surprised to hear about some of the products they have planned for this year. And while we can’t disclose the information, let’s just say that we are in for a surprise.

That being said, let’s focus our attention on their XT1 notebook computer speakers. The new XT1 is a pair of portable, USB-powered stereo speaker system. This small system requires no AC adapter, as it draws power from the USB port on your laptop computer.
