(First Look) - Late last week, at another Apple event, the company revealed a slew of highly anticipated services and products, out of which the iPod family experienced an impressive overhaul. While watching the live webcast of the event, Steve Jobs’ intentions of having iPod users get an updated player every year kept ringing true. Much to everyone’s excitement and true to his word, Jobs introduced the world’s smallest music player to date, the 2nd generation iPod Shuffle. While we personally weren’t too thrilled about the screenless device, it proved to be successful for Apple. From a pure simplicity perspective, we suppose it wasn’t too bad. While the original Shuffle disappointed us, the updated Shuffle is refreshing.

You know what, we might even let go of the screenless issue this time around. The new iPod Shuffle is designed from the ground up with a clip design and 1GB of storage that makes the device portable, robust and easy to carry around. This is what we really like about Apple - the company’s dedication towards its products. Unlike other companies, Apple goes back to the board and outdoes itself continually to enhance the user experience, and it’s with pleasure, we must say, Apple succeeds majority of the time in its endeavors.

The exterior of the Shuffle is made from aluminum with a much more solid body than the previous version. The front of the unit has the necessary controls and the headphones jack at the top of the device. The notable aspect of the clip design is that the clip covers the device’s back entirely, therefore, securing it to the source. Not to mention, the earphones has seen an upgrade to a sleeker version as well.

You will get skip-free playback, support for MP3, AAC, Protected AAC, Audible, WAV and AIFF audio formats from 20Hz and 20,000Hz frequencies. In addition, the player offers 12 hours of battery and an included charger to quickly to recharge the lithium-ion battery.

Apple’s 2nd generation iPod Shuffle comes in 1GB storage option and available for pre-order immediately for $79. Apple will start shipping sometime in October.
