(Review) - BlueAnt continues to innovate for mobile handsets with relevant products to make communication easy. The Supertooth 3 is one such product that’s surely going to wow anyone who’s looking for a handsfree speakerphone for their cell phone. The device is equipped with a speaker, a volume rocker, two status lights, a send key and an end key, and all of this is integrated on a glossy black box that looks amazingly nice. The device can be tagged to your vehicle’s visor with the included clips, and that’s about all you’ll need to get it up and running. Once it’s firmly held in place, press and hold the send key for a couple of seconds to initiate the unit. It’ll prompt you to pick from six pre-selected languages to interact with Supertooth. Pair it up with your mobile handset and you are set. Smartphones Get Smart, Finally The device is great in that it automatically syncs your phone’s address book to itself. So when someone calls, it’ll say the caller’s name and prompt you to pick up the call accordingly. Unfortunately, it doesn’t download contacts from your SIM. That’s something you’ll have to do manually. Thanks to voice support, you can pick up calls without ever having to hit the send key. Just say one of these four commands and Supertooth will understand you: accept call, accept, answer and ok. Saying any of these four voice commands will pick up the call. However, you can’t disconnect the call with a voice command, which we presume is somewhat understandable. You don’t want to say "disconnect" in a conversation and have the unit end your call, especially if it was important. Smart thinking on BlueAnt’s part; we are impressed. That about sums up the device’s functionality. From a performance standpoint, it’s one of the best handsfree handsets we’ve ever tested, period. The voice quality was crystal clear with little interference from background static. Callers reported superb quality on their end as well. BlueAnt’s Supertooth 3 is rated for 15 hours of talk time per charge and 800 hours of standby time. 15 hours is a lot of time, and an average user won’t run through 15 hours of talk time on their cell phone/handsfree handset. You’d have to be a mobile warrior or love handsfree technology to use it that much. Needless to say, it should last you 3-4 days on a single charge even if you are a heavy talker. Overall, for $69.99, this is well worth it. BlueAnt has another winner in its portfolio, and we applaud their engineering team for another success. Excellent, excellent, excellent! |
