DLO iBoom Travel

(Review) - DLO is the new Kensington with its simple, functional products that do one thing and do it well. Simplicity is the new theme in consumer electronics, and it shows, especially with DLO. The latest in DLO's iPod accessory lineup is iBoom Travel, a wisely named boombox for the world's most popular media player. This is one product without a lot of bells and whistles, and that's what makes it so attractive to us.

iBoom Travel is a combination of boombox and an iPod alarm clock that wakes you to the annoying buzzer sound or your favorite music tracks. DLO has designed the iBoom Travel to look like a traditional alarm clock, generally the ones you find in hotel rooms. Add traditional taste to simplicity and you have a down to earth product. iBoom Travel is compatible with all latest iPod models, as the device comes with the necessary sliders to adjust with various flavors. On the outer edge are the necessary buttons that lets you adjust time and play around with other settings. However, majority of the time, you will work with your iPod and its controls for equalizer settings and whatnot. Then there's the FM tuner integration option for the iPod, in case you are bored with your custom playlists and would prefer to listen to local news or radio stations. We found that to be a great option even though the reception wasn't too great.

DLO HomeDock Music Remote Review

The controls were easy to understand, and the bright LCD display that lit blue made working with iBoom Travel an absolute pleasure. This unit is clearly designed for mobile professionals who hotel hop from one city to another, and would like to feel home with a few familiar products in their carrying case. The travel pouch for iBoom Travel will come in handy while packing it. What's even better is that you won't need to worry about power issues, since it works with AC power and 2x AA batteries as well. The best of both worlds.

The audio quality was very good for such a compact device. However, it shouldn't replace your entertainment setup. It's designed to be a quick alternative to over-the-top entertainment setups for hotel rooms, small get togethers and casual settings. If you plan to analyze Mozart's Symphony with iBoom Travel, you will be disappointed. DLO's iBoom Travel is available in black and white, and it's priced at $69.99, which is quite reasonable. If you are looking for a mobile solution for your iPod, iBoom Travel is a worthwhile product.
