Page 2 of 3 Product Analysis: Etymotic and almost all high-end manufacturers include a variety of accessories with earphones/headsets. In fact, there’s very little to talk about the headset itself, thus much of our discussion will focus on the overall package. Usually, we don’t focus too much on accessories, but we are willing to make an exception with ETYCOM. In addition to the wired headset, Etymotic provides a shirt clip, assorted eartips, replacement filter, filter changing tool, and small and large windscreens. The accessories and their uses are self-explanatory. Etymotic provides similar accessories (with a few exceptions) with its professional grade earphones as well. This is to ensure that you get the most comfortable fit to thoroughly enjoy the company’s products. The headset is based on the deep ear design, which essentially lets you insert the earpiece perfectly in the ear canal, thereby naturally reducing extraneous noise. This gives you the ability to listen to the slightest noises. Unfortunately, however, the environment is so quiet that you can actually hear your heartbeat. It’s annoying at first, but you soon get used to the idea. When you have the earphones so close to your eardrum, it’s essential to keep the volume levels at considerably low levels for obvious reasons. As you would expect from Etymotic, the company has integrated noise cancellation technology in the speaker as well. This means you get clear quality on both spectrums of the call.
