(Review) - Etymotic recently released a new Bluetooth headset that’s primarily marketed towards the iPhone crowd. It’s sleek, it’s cool and it’s trendy, just like the iPhone. And it has the ingredients of the iPhone to be a successful product for Etymotic. Don’t be mistaken, though, EtyBlu works just as well with any Bluetooth compatible headset as it does with the iPhone. The glossy, black finished device features a silver multifunction button at the top, a LED indicator underneath the button, a volume rocker on the left spine and a charger/mic jack on the bottom. Although the button is smudged into the unit, it’s distinct enough. You won’t have a difficult time finding it blindly and accessing it. Sleek Audio SA6 Earphones Review On the back is the earbud that goes into your ear and offers two tips for comfort: small and regular. These are in-ear tips that go deep in your ear to naturally cancel extraneous noise and fit snuggly enough to where you can effortlessly hear your callers. There’s also an opening for the ear loop, but the earbud was too comfortable in our ear and stable enough that we didn’t felt it necessary to use it. You could, though, if you would like. Be careful with the volume, too. Don’t push it up too high without testing it first. The tips get a little too deep inside your ears, and they are very effective in blocking the outside noise. If the integrated mic isn’t enough for you, Etymotic includes a boom mic, called the Blumaxx Quick-Connect Mic that increase noise cancellation by another 25 decibels. It doesn’t get any better than that. In our performance tests, the overall quality was superb. We were able to hear our callers, and vice versa. In fact, some even said our voice was too clear for a cell phone paired with a wireless Bluetooth headset. Unfortunately, however, the voice was interrupted with static on occasions. We couldn’t pinpoint the issue, but it only last a few seconds at best. The additional mic helped, but despite external conditions, our volume sounded low to our callers, even though we could hear them loud and clear. For the price of $129, EtyBlu is not the cheapest of the bunch, but it sure does sound great. Not to mention, the sexy product appeal is too good to pass up. For iPhone users, or otherwise, if you are looking for a high quality headset, give EtyBlu a serious look. It’s one of the best ones out there with 7 hours of talk time and 4.2 days of standby time.
