(Review) - Not too long ago, we evaluated Philips GoGear HDD1630 6GB Jukebox. We were certainly impressed with the unit as it wasn’t plagued with audio quality issues, or any other serious anomalies for that matter. However, what left us unimpressed was the smudge prone exterior of the device. A number of CE products are starting to use glossy exteriors, which are great for the pure appeal factor, but smudges are a serious drawback as a result.
Today, however, we are taking a look at Philips GoGear HDD6330 30GB Jukebox. Like its HDD1630 predecessor, HDD6330 sports similar features with the exact same audio quality. In fact, the key difference between the two players is their storage capacity (in addition to a few minor changes). Therefore, we will only discuss the differentiating factors between the aforementioned devices and would forward you to an in-depth review of HDD1630 for more information on performance and other analysis.
Unlike HDD1630, HDD6330 does not support playlists on the go, a useful option for those who are constantly organizing their music according to different criteria frequently. The lack of option isn’t too dismal considering the real world use of the feature. Other significant changes include control while browsing and an upgrade to a larger display (from 1.5" to 2"). Neither of these upgrades are surprising for obvious reasons.
For the price of $299.99 on average (though we found it for as low as $249.99), you can’t go wrong with Philips’ HDD6330 30 Jukebox, if a larger capacity player is something you are interested in.
Again, please read our in-depth review on Philips’ HDD1630 for more information.
