Rio, although not as popular as some of the other MP3 player manufacturers, does produce rather well designed and quality competent products. Not too long ago, we evaluated the company’s Rio Carbon model, which was the plain gray variant of what we are about to take a look at today. Soon after Rio introduced the regular Rio Carbon MP3 player, it went ahead and announced a special Pearl Edition, which doesn’t propose additional features except the color scheme. Since we have already taken a look at Rio Carbon in greater detail earlier, we will go ahead and recap the pros and cons to give you a general overview of the product and our recommendation. If you are interested in reading a more thorough analysis, we suggest you read through our earlier review of the Rio Carbon. As we mentioned formerly, the audio quality performance in general was quite impressive with no exaggeration between high-pitched notes and sounds. The volume levels measured correctly and did not distort the sound like some of the other portable audio players in the market. Although there was little static, it’s nothing too significant to outweigh the decision. Unless you closely listen for it, as we did, you probably won’t notice it.
