Product Analysis:

The front of the MT6V is equipped with the standard volume up/down and skip forward/backward functions with a central joystick to control the aforementioned attributes. The joystick has blue backlight that adds a vibrant touch to the player. The screen, despite its small size, has all the characteristics that you would expect, and then some. You will discover the customary battery meter and track information in addition to a fading light effect. Basically, once you press any of the buttons, the light will come on and in three seconds it will fade off to save battery life. Even though it’s nothing significant, and it shouldn’t be the necessary decision maker, it adds a pleasant appeal to the overall product.

The right of the MT6V has the headphones input, a loop for lanyard, which is included in the package, and a sliding characteristic to change the battery. While we are on the subject of headphones, we must say the earphones that are included with this player are substandard at best. This doesn’t surprise us too much, since almost all manufacturers are known to pack sub-par earphones to make it an out-of-the-box deal. If you are serious about audio quality, as you should be, a pair of third-party earphones would be useful.

The top of the MT6V has the hold, play/pause, record and AB buttons in addition to an integrated microphone. The different thing about this portable audio player is its capability to be used as a voice recorder. We were skeptical about the recording capabilities, as we experienced poor performance with Rio’s latest players, but surprisingly enough Samsung’s MT6V is dissimilar in that regard. Throughout our testing, we managed to record and playback the player in various environments, and for the most part, the performance was static free and acceptable. That said; don’t expect to use it as a professional voice recorder for critical work. A dedicated voice recorder is always a better choice than a mere feature in a devoted MP3 player.
