Sleek Audio SA6 Earphones

(Review) - Sleek Audio is a relatively new company that desires to compete against the more established, high-end players in the market. Frankly, it’s going to take a lot more than an expensive pair of earphones to get them going, and with SA6 as their first product, it gives us hope and confidence in them and their upcoming success.

Sleek Audio’s SA6 is an in-ear pair of earphones that promises customizability for consumers. You see, unlike all earphones, the treble and bass tuning ports are replaceable to better sync them to your liking. Instead of working with an application client to customize such frequencies, the SA6 provides a hardware solution.

The black and chrome pair of earphones looks great and comes included with three pairs of flange tips, a tip cleaner and a carrying case, another accessory that looks fresh. Treble and bass tuning ports aren’t the only parts that are replaceable; the cable has a modular design and gets connected at the very end of the earphones. That allows for a flexible way to wear them - in the front or behind the ears.

You can purchase all of these accessories separately from Sleek Audio, in case you lose them. With so many tiny parts circling inside the case, trust us, you will end up losing them at one point.

From a performance standpoint, the SA6 earphones sounded great, especially with their lows. The audio output was crystal clear and wholesome. However, edging towards the highs, we were a bit disappointed with muffled audio during certain tracks. Replacing the tuning ports was great, and the difference was noticeable. We expect you to interchange them a few times before you settle on the ones you like. After that, you can kiss the others goodbye.

Overall, for $249.99, these are not your "easy to replace" earphones. There are competitive earphones in the market that cost less than $249.99, and those should be given a thorough look before deciding on these. Don’t get us wrong, they are good and get a recommended from us, but price is always an important factor, and these are a little on the high-end when it comes to that. In fact, Sleek Audio even prices their accessories on the upper quartile with flange tips at $9.99, tuning ports at $12.50, carrying case at $12.50 and the cable at $24.99.

Our advice for Sleek Audio: Improve the quality slightly and cut back on some of these prices. You are charging too much.
