Computer enthusiasts want to spend every last penny of their disposable income on the latest and greatest hardware. They always want a faster graphics card, a new microprocessor, faster RAM, a new motherboard, a bigger (storage wise) or faster hard drive and a better case, in that order. So, is the penny-pinching hardware buyer going to want to put a lot of money towards his case when he can put a lot of it towards a next generation graphics card? The answer is an obvious "No". Not everyone needs cases that cost as much as a 200GB hard drive, which is why the sub-$100 market has been getting more features because of the huge amount of manufacturers vying for your money.

Not everyone wants to spend more than $100 on a case, but they still want features like aluminum construction for its lightweight, high thermal conductivity, and "geek" factor. They want side windows, LED lights, ample cooling, and something that looks nice. Logisys has geared their Janus gaming case directly at this market.

The Janus features a lightweight aluminum body, two low noise fans (one with a blue LED), a mesh window, four 5.25" bays, and six 3.5" bays. The side panels are accessible without tools, although you will need a screwdriver to install or remove any hardware in this case. The Janus has several ports accessible from the front: two external USB 2.0 ports, audio in, audio out, and one Firewire (IEEE 1394a). The case even ships with a 480W power supply unit, and all this for under $80.

We will be testing every inch of the case today except for the power supply, which was not supplied with our unit.  How well does the case performs? Read on and find out...
