As you read our Part I of this series titled "Silverstone SST-LC02 Case: Part I : The First Looks", you should've realized that the SST-LC02 is an immature product with many problems. The main one being system cooling, which we emphasized on quite a bit. What we will take a look at today is an optional top panel for the SST-LC02 case. It features few more ventilation holes around the center for heat dissipation.

Should you decide to install a standard ATX motherboard, the ventilation holes will be right above the heatsink. This will directly target the main source of heat and try to eliminate it via the holes. As much as this is good thinking on Silverstone's part, they do make a mistake by offering this top panel as an optional accessory for additional price. Secondly, due to the lack of system fans, the heat is not eliminated, however, it is reduced somewhat.

The third thing to point out is the fact that our top panel evaluation sample did not fit the SST-LC02 case. There are some leveling issues that plague this panel. We are giving Silverstone benefit of the doubt here simply because the panel we received is a pre-production panel and it is highly possible that Silverstone took care of this issue.

While the ventilation holes is a step towards success, our recommendation for the SST-LC02 case remains the same.
