Accessories:

The power supply includes plethora of orange, UV reactive cables that will eventually get connected to the unit. There is also a power cable and a user’s manual for those who are uninformed about installation procedures and whatnot.

The orange directly match the overall body of the power supply. The connectors at the end of these cables are also premium quality with flexible cables. There are a few considerations to take into mind when considering this power supply. Depending upon the size of the case, you may have some trouble getting the cables around to specific components, such as hard drives. We do find the cables to be somewhat shorter than they should be. However, only cases like Thermaltake’s Shark, which we evaluated last week, may be open to cable length issues.

Next is the fact that the cables do not include enough SATA connectors (only two), which is a definite let down. All SATA hard drives arrive with their own power connectors, so it’s not exactly a chaotic situation, but it would certainly be nice to match them with the rest of the UV theme. According to Ultra, they are aware of this issue and users can purchase SATA connectors separately, which stabilize our hopes to an extent.

It is not possible to install the power supply right away for those of you with Intel’s Alderwood and Grantsdale chipset based systems. This is due to the lack of 24-pin power connector, but, once again, Ultra is aware of the situation and advises users to purchase the converter (20-pin à 24-pin) separately.

Other than the aforementioned issues, there isn’t anything else to criticize. We are thoroughly impressed with everything we have been presented with thus far. It’s obvious that Ultra has taken care of majority of the minor issues with their modular design; the only shame to it is that users will have to purchase some accessories separately when they should get them at no charge.
