The entire PSU is black in color and is quite heavy, which represents the quality of the product. The power supply is finely finished from the outside as well as the inside. To circulate air and to better dissipate heat, Zalman made ventilation vents on one of the sides. Already, we can start to see the idea of noiseless PSU being put into action. The only way to make a power supply quite is to not solely depend on the fan to dissipate the heat. A single fan shouldn't be the only source of cooling for the PSU and the manufacturers are soon realizing that.
The back of PSU contains the power switch, a fan with grill, and the power connector. In this PSU, we don't see the red switch that allows the user to switch between two voltages but considering that Zalman has designed this specific PSU for the US market, that shouldn't be a problem. There are thermal sensors for the fan. According to the level of humidity, the fan speed turns up/down. Even at extreme speeds, the fan remains quite and the thermal sensor is very effective.
This PSU has connections for everything that you would ever need. The main connectors include: 12v power connector, the mainboard connector, auxiliary connectors, peripheral connectors and FDD connectors. What sets this PSU apart from the competition is the fact that this PSU even has SATA connectors for new generation hard drives. This is unquestionably a bonus and an admirable feature. It is also a main marketing and selling point for Zalman, which they are taking full advantage of. |
