Page 3 of 10 Features/Specifications: Before we go any further let’s take a look at specifications and features of this heatsink.
Let’s hit some of the big things that we think are really important in a heatsink. First of all take a look at fan dimensions. Fan dimensions on this heatsink are 70X70X25 MM, which is nice but we have seen 80 MM fans on heatsinks that tend work better at slower speeds. Base dimensions of this heatsink are 82X65X35.5. Base dimensions are very good. This allows the heatsink to fit perfectly on the processor while still leaving space for the temperature sensor. Fan speeds on Spark 7+ Xaser Edition are unimaginable. The lowest speed, as you can see above, is 1300 rpms @ 20C and higest speed of the fan is 6000 rpms @ 52C. Speeds are very nice on these fans but we don’t think anyone would want to use this heatsink at 6000 rpms because of the noise issue. Both airflow and air pressure is also well. We really like the fact that everything can easily be manipulated on Spark 7+. Noise level is excellent when the temperature is at 20C but the higher your processor’s temperature get the more noise you will have to hear. There are 2 bearings in this heatsink, which makes this heatsink more rugged than the ones without bearings. Lifetime is 50,000, which is not bad even if you run your computer 24/7. We think ThermalTake was paying close attention to the performance of this heatsink that they forget to improve some of the things such as noise level.
Spark 7+ Xaser Edition uses opti-fin technology, which helps in reducing heat more efficiently. Like mentioned earlier, this heatsink contains 2 clips, which are used during the installation process. Individual user can control fan speeds with the help of two speed controllers. This is very touch that every cooling manufacturer is providing their users with. A Fan controller make heastsinks or even case fans more productive and gives the user full control of their heatsinks’ performance. There are three functions of Spark 7+’s fan as you can see above. Three functions include full speed, temperature control or manual control. All of these features will be discussed in detail later in this review. |
