(Review) - I have not taken a close look at Flock for some time, mainly because it felt like their focus was too much on picture clipping and the like. But after taking a look at the 0.9.1.3 release, anyone who does blogging or writing for a living is doing themselves a huge disservice by not using this browser - seriously.

Installation and First Impressions. In my case, I was installing the browser on an Ubuntu box, so I was asked to download a compressed folder to extract it. From there, everything I needed was in the master Flock folder, which was awesome. So I created a shortcut onto my desktop and opened the browser for the first time.

As expected, the Firefox importing process started, although I was a bit miffed that it did so without prompting me. No matter, though. From there it brought me to something located at about:myworld called logically enough "My World."

There, I was greeted with fantastic RSS feed management, my existing favorites (yet in an easy to read format) and of course, my favorite media...more on that later.

Ubuntu Gutsy And ipv6: The Problems Continue

Eight Killer Browser Features Already Included. Some of the following functionality is likely already available via some random bundle of Firefox add-ons, but why worry about adding so many add-ons if Flock has it all ready to go in a nice package:

- MyWorld. Nearly perfect, just perfect. Best RSS, favorite and media management out there. If they simply tossed in Gmail integration, I would be even more excited. With this Webpage-like page, I'm able to have the portal I have aways wanted, but without depending on iGoogle to catch on with what I really need. I love having my RSS feeds displayed in such a way that I only see the latest in news.

- The Media Bar. No one has anything like this that I know of. It's a whole new way to look at media that matters to you. Flickr, YouTube, Photobucket, whatever. I have never seen an easier way to search and subscribe to media content from within a browser - very nice.

- Favorites On Steroids. Making your localized favorites available, you also have immediate access to your favorites via Del.icio.us as well. What is even cooler is visiting the site for the first time prompts a drop-down question assisting you in setting up integrated favorite saving into Flock - amazing.
