Page 1 of 10 The enthusiast memory market is a tough spot in the industry at this point. It is difficult to stay competitive when every manufacturer is introducing its enthusiast and gamer line of memory products with a few twists and turns. Of course, more competition means better products for end consumers at hopefully affordable prices. We have one such market segment that is starting to reignite with the introduction of Samsung's low latency ICs. Samsung's new modules are a refined gem that wasn't found until recently. Once Corsair introduced their "XL" line of low latency memory (2-2-2), others jumped on the same bandwagon fairly quickly. What once thought of as a dull product is now one of the attention grabbing topics. The only downside to the these low latency modules is the price. Corsair's PC3200XL Pro memory retails around $350.00, which is way too much for DDR400 RAM especially when you can purchase the non-Samsung IC chips based memory for half the price. We predicted in our Corsair PC3200XL analysis that as more companies entered this segment, the prices are expected to decline, however, it appears that this may not be the case from what we have learned from our sources recently. We will focus our attention on the pricing scenario later during the analyis, but before that let's see how OCZ's PC3200 Platinum Rev. 2 memory stacks up against one of its core competitors - Corsair.
