(Review) - We really like Kensington’s Si750m wireless notebook laser mouse for its simplicity, which is Kensington’s way of doing things. The company believes in simplifying products to bare necessities, and it has worked rather well for them. Other than admiring the simplicity of the Si750m, there isn’t too much to talk about.

Considering it’s a notebook mouse, it’s smaller than average mice, a potential problem for people with large hands. Obviously Kensington’s isn’t the only guilty party for doing this, but unfortunately, it’s a common trend that we don’t necessarily believe in. It’s build on the 2.4GHz wireless technology for signal transmission, which happens to be a great platform for wireless mice. We have tested a number of 2.4GHz mice before, and they were all superb in their performance. The same applies to Kensington’s Si750m wireless notebook laser mouse. It’s certainly not a gaming mouse, but precision for everyday tasks is admirable. Editing photos, especially minutely, was amazingly manageable. We can’t say that about other mobile mice.

Battery life is expected to last approximately six months. Since we couldn’t test that claim, we’ll take Kensington’s claim for it. Even if the numbers are off substantially, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. We wouldn’t recommend anyone using mobile mice, whether it’s from Kensington, Logitech or others, simply because it doesn’t make sense when you are at home. Why not use a desktop mouse? That leaves the usage to hotel suites, and even if you are a road warrior, and you have to change the battery every few months, it’s still not a big deal at all. You also have red and green LED indicators to warn you of low battery, so you should be all set.

The ergonomics of the Si750m are well designed. It has rounded edges with grooves on its edges, which makes it really comfortable to hold. With that said, perhaps the most exciting aspect, if you can call it that, of the Si750m is its sliding battery and receiver compartment. All you have to do is push on the Si750m’s sides and the backside opens to reveal the battery and the wireless receiver. Ingenious! We like products that make carrying them easier and hassle-free. After all, who wants to hunt for the wireless receiver in their notebook bags?

For the MSRP of $49.99, it’s slightly expensive for our tastes, but we were able to find it for as low as $39.99. We like the Si750m hands down. It’s a great, simple product that just works. However, we recommend you wait for the deals to start rolling around to find a better price. Wait a month or so and you shouldn’t have a problem finding it below the $39.99 price tag.
