The V400 sports a rugged design with shock-resistant exterior, thanks to the rubber grip surrounding the device. As is the case with a number of Logitech products, the V400 is available in three color combinations for you to choose from. The battery life indicator is situated on the far end of the mouse instead of the top. It’s a unique spot for an indicator, but it works. The indicator changes color to alert you to weak battery life; it’s a standard feature across many Logitech mice, therefore, we have come to expect it as a standard. Since the V400 is designed for road warriors and users who are on the move, storing the digital receiver and making sure it’s not lost while commuting is essential. Due to this, Logitech has built a compartment inside the V400, right next to the battery life indicator. You can insert the receiver inside the compartment for storage, and press eject to release it. On top of that, there’s a cover outside the compartment for protection. Although it’s logical and obvious to include a protective cover, it’s still amazing to see how many companies don’t focus on the very basic details. The V400 doesn’t have all the configurable buttons that you would generally find on an average desktop mouse, but they are decent enough for a notebook mouse considering it’s not meant to replace the desktop counterpart. There are two buttons situated on the outer area of the V400. By default, the buttons are set to go forward/backward while browsing online, and they are configurable via SetPoint software. The two left and right buttons are also present with a scroll wheel. The scroll wheel features Tilt Wheel Plus Zoom technology. In addition to moving in four directions, the scroll wheel can now zoom on images and webpages, thereby making it easier to read and work, especially where precision is a critical requirement. |
